Chapter .08The Orphans
"Eep!" Vikki screeched as she was thrown into a brightly lit room. Everything in the room was white. She felt like she was in one of those iPod stores. There were six white beds lined up against the wall and one glass table in the center of the room.
"Stand up straight!" a TSS guard slapped Vikki on the back as another guard removed the cuffs from her wrists. The biggest guard pointed to a bed in the far corner.
"There's your bed," his voice was rough. "you better not soil the sheets! Because you only get one set."He and the other burst out into wicked laughs as they left the room and locked the metal door behind them. Vikki rubbed her wrists, they were aching from the cuffs that left red lines on her wrists.
She then caught a glimpse of her reflection in the floor (it was that shiny,) her red hair was in a tangled mess, she could've mistaken her hair for Margo's, her face was dirty, and she reeked of bad odor. Luckily when Vikki walked over to her bed she found a white gown layed out on her bed and some white shoes. She then ripped off her old tattered clothes and changed into her new ones.
"Hi!""Ak!" Vikki jumped behind her bed, still in her undergarments. "Wh-who's there!?""Hi I'm Greta!" a plump blonde girl crawled out from under the bed next to her.
"Ugh?" Vikki tried to put on her gown as fast as she could before Greta could she her pale stomach.
"It's all girls in here," Greta said. "No need to worry about any boys peeking if that's why your changing so quickly."
When Vikki slipped on her gown, she walked out from behind the bed to reveal herself. Four more girls crawled out from under the beds."Are the guards gone?" a frail looking brunette (whose name was Ariel) asked shyly.
Greta nodded. "And they brought another girl with them. Her name is..."
"Hansel," Vikki whispered.
"Hi Hansel!" all the other orphans said in unison. A black girl with two braids came up two her and shook Vikki's pale hand.
"I'm Bex, short for Rebecca," she beamed. "And I'm turning twelve in one week. Making me the eldest, meaning that I'm in charge here when the guards are gone."
The rest rolled their eyes, except for Greta.
"I'm the second oldest!" Greta shot her hand up. "Making me second in charge!"
Vikki just walked over to her bed to lay down. She had a long day and she really didn't feel like putting up with the others.
"Hey! Hey Vikki!" the orphans crouded around her bed trying to get her attention. "C'mon Vikki! We want to ask you a few questions! Vikki! Vikki! Vikki... Vikk... Vi... V..."
Chapter .09
Strange
Strange
"Um, Montgomery?" Klaus tapped the old man on his shoulder. "One week ago you said that you'd take us to start our trek to Tranaad."
"Yes, and?" he turned to look at Klaus.
"Well today's not one week ago anymore," Klaus said. Margo put her hands on her hips.
"Yeah! So what's the hold up?" Margo narrowed her green eyes. Montgomery's blue eyes just twinkled back.
"Well I decided that it just wasn't a good time," Montgomery said. "Since your little friend , Indigo, had shown up and just had a close friend die, I thought she needed time to get over Crow's death."
"Who said that guy was a close friend of mine?" Indigo said from the living room doorway with distaste on her face.
Montgomery's face started to cringe but then went back to normal when his wife came into the room.
"Now children listen to your elders," Mrs. Montgomery snapped. "Elijah know's what he's doing! Now go to bed little ones, it's far too late."
Margo and Klaus looked at the clock. "But it is only six thirty!"
Mrs. Montgomery's eyes burned through their skulls.
"Bed, now!" she said through clench teeth. They have never seen her so angry before.
Deciding that it would be bad news to further challenge their temporary care-taker, Indigo, Margo and Klaus headed toward their bedroom. But Margo felt that something bad was happening.
Chapter .10
The Royal Translator
The Royal Translator
"Ahem! Ladies and gentlemen of Tranaad! I present to you, Lord Debob Kalob and his royal translator, Tina Lo," the royal announced.
All the guests of the Tranaad Palace Ballroom cheered. Everything in the room looked so lovely. Winnie had never seen anything like it before. Everyone was dressed in beautifully designed dresses and tuxedo's. The ballroom floor was made of marble and the ceilings were of gold. There was a band playing on the stage that was set next to the staircase.
Debob, who was dressed in red velvet robes, lead Winnie down the long stair case. Winnie felt like Cinderella in her blue satin and tulle dress.
"Bonjour!" the Amassador of France greeted. "Je m'appelle Sir Peter Westmacott."
"Hello, my name is Sir Peter Westmacott," Winnie whispered to Debob.
"Tell him 'My name is Debob Kalob and this is my translater Winnie' Ask him what his wife's name is."
"Bonjour!" Winnie said back. "Je m'appelle Lord Debob Kalob et c'est moi palole convertir, Winnie. Et toi?"
Winnie pointed to the Ambassador's wife.
"Oui, je m'apelle Annick," she said and then handed Winnie a flower from a bouquet she held in her arms. "Les fluer c'est pour toi."
"'My name is Annick. The flower is for me.' And I think the bouquet is for you." Winnie then turned back to Annick to thank her.
"Merci!" Winnie blushed.
Annick then handed Debob Kalob the rest of the bouquet.
"Merci!" Winnie said on Debob's half.
Debob nodded his head gently and then said to Winnie, “Tell them that tonight we shall be feasting on a lovely banquet, of Tranaad’s delicacies. And that tonight’s entertainment will be Rossom’s United.”
“Ce soir nous serons sur la fĂȘte d'un banquet magnifique, des dĂ©licatesses de Tranaad. Entertainment Tonight sera Rossom's United,” Winnie said translating.
“Oh! Je ne peux pas attendre!” Annick said, looking extremely excited now.
“Annick says she can’t wait,” Winnie told Debob.
Debob smiled at the Ambassador and his wife and extended his arm out to singal, that they were welcome into the dining room. They went in.
“Debob, what’s Rossom’s United about?” Winnie asked Debob.
Debob looked at her.
“Silly Tina,” he said addressing her by her false name. “You don’t need to know that do you? You’re not even going to see it.”
Winnie was outraged at this remark. “Why? What if the people at your banquet need translating?”
Debob shook his head. “It’s not a play without words, Tina. And besides, it’s too secretive for you to know about anyways.
With that remark, Winnie remembered the reason why she was here the first place. Not to translate words for Debob Kalob in different languages, so she could save herself from being kicked to the building next door where Vikki was slaving away to work. But to find out what Debob and Octavius were planning to do. Which was not at all something along the lines of
She decided to find out later at the dining table.
Chapter .11
Debob’s Alliances
Debob’s Alliances
As soon as Annick and the Ambassador of France left, Winnie was greeted by the president of Cuba, China and South Korea and spent the whole afternoon translating simple everyday speech like, “How is (person) doing?” or “I want to go see this (specific touring sight)” or “How is the weather like in (a specific place)?” and etcetera.
Winnie was bored to tears. Why did Debob have to invite so many countries just to talk about simple stuff? And especially to such a beautiful palace? Hadn’t they had anything important things to say to one another? She had seen this as a chance to find out more about the Debob’s plans with Octavius. But instead, here she was stuck to say ‘how are you’s’ in five different languages.
Finally, when they were almost done with the banquet, Octavius announced boldly to all the ambassadors or presidents to go with him to the play. Winnie decided it was time to figure out what the heck was going on.
Annick, the French ambassador’s wife was heading over to the restroom. Winnie followed her and said with as much willpower her small body could withhold:
“Ce qui est de Rossom-Unis au sujet?” she asked Annick.
What is Rossom’s Unite about?
Annick didn’t look back at her while she applied compact to her nose, “Je ne sais pas.”
I don’t know.
Winnie knew she was lying. She didn’t spend hours of listening to the lectures of Indigo on how to indentify whether or not a person is lying or not for nothing.
She stared at Annick and said, “Je sais que vous savez.”
Annick looked at her nervously and took out her lipstick to apply a bright red color onto her mouth.
She avoided the subject. “Comment as-tu comme les fleu--?”
Winnie quickly interrupted her and spoke in her primary tongue. “Tell me, Annick. Please.”
Annick closed the lid of her lipstick and put it back into her jeweled purse and faced Winnie.
The woman sighed, knowing that Winnie would not get of her back and said back to Winnie in heavy accented English, “I cannot tell you.”
Winnie held Annicks hand and looked pleadingly at her. “Please.”
Annick shook her head but said a single word in her native tongue. “Pouvoir.”
Annick left the bathroom and headed to the dining room.
“Power?” Winnie thought to herself. “The play is about power?”
She had a lot of strings to unravel.
And while she was worrying about that, she wondered what brain experimental tests she would be taking soon.
Chapter .12
Bribed?
Bribed?
"Klaus? Something is not right," Margo said worriedly.
"Yes, I know what you mean." Klaus responded.
"Why won't Montgomery tell us anything? I feel that he is hiding something from us."
"We need to get out of here."
"Yeah."
"But first we need information."
"I can help you with that." Indigo said standing in Margo and Klaus's bedroom doorway. Margo and Klaus were surprised, Indigo hardly talked to them after the whole Crow is dead ordeal.
"What do you mean?" Klaus asked.
"Montgomery is being bribed to keep us here, but I haven't figured out by who and why."
"How did you find that out? How long have you known that?"
"Psh! And you call yourselves psychic!?" Indigo began to tiredly explain: "Since last night. I stayed up last night and searched the house."
Chapter .13
The Stranger
The Stranger
Ding dong. Ding dong.
Margo snapped awake and shot up right.
"Now what?" Klaus yawned. "It's too early in the morning."
Indigo sat up straight in her bed. She had been dreaming (never had she dreamed) of those times before her stay at the orphanage and had a funny feeling...
Mrs. Montgomery opened the door, she still had her pajamas on. The widely awake orphans kept behind the sofa in the front room, and spied.
A young Asian man wearing FBI gear stood on the front porch. "Are you Mrs. Montgomery? Is Mr. Montgomery in the house?"
"Yes. What do you want?" Mrs. Montgomery said not too pleasantly.
"I have some matters I would like to discuss with you and your fake husband."
Klaus, Margo and Indigo exchanged glances. Mrs. Montgomery gasped and sputtered.
The man sighed and rolled his eyes. "I guess I'll let myself in then." He then proceeded to enter the house.
Inside the house he saw the three orphans in the living room. "Hello Margo, Klaus, and Indigo."
Margo and Klaus looked at each other. Who is this man and how does he know our names? Margo's stomach flipped flopped.
Indigo stared at the man for a moment and then exclaimed, "You!"
"Yup, me." He cheerfully said.
By now Mr. Montgomery had stormed into the living room. "Orphans, go back to your rooms!" He ordered.
"No, I think they should stay and hear this." The young stranger said. "Anyways, did I forget to mention I'm with the FBI? Well, first off, Mr. Balahub, you are charged with identity fraud for living under the name Mr. Montgomery, stealing orphans, taking bribes from Mr. Octavius and Mr. DeBob Kalob, and participating in a grand scheme involving orphans. Anything you say or do will be used against you."
Mr. Balahub opened his mouth and closed it.
"Now for Ms. Valasima...before I read the charges, you know my Indigo don't you?" The young stranger's voice suddenly got dark and dangerous. "You tried to take her away from me several years ago."
Mrs. Valasima trembled, and then cried out, "Wait, you're not...you can't be..."
The stranger continued, "Oh yes, and I know you helped murdered my parents and you should die for that!" There was an evil gleam in his eyes, then, suddenly it was gone and the stranger became cheerful again. "But since I'm with the FBI, I'll just let them deal with you since you have done some terrible things that are not my concern."
Mrs. Valasima's face suddenly became hard and the only thing she said was, "You're not innocent either."
"Oh, I know." The stranger said cheerfully.
The local police came in the house and took Mr. Blahub and Mrs. Valasima away to FBI headquarters.
The stranger sat down in a chair opposite of the orphans, took off his FBI gear, and cheerfully said, "Well children, for now, looks like you three will be in my custody for a while."
"Who are you?" Klaus inquired.
"I'm with the FBI and I have the papers if you want to look."
"That's not what I meant..."
Indigo muttered, "Papers don't prove anything."
"Ah, looks like you remembered some of what I told you." The stranger said with a smirk on his face.
"You're not with the FBI." Indigo said flatly.
"Nope, not at all. You might as well introduce me to them."
"Knowing you, you probably already know all about them."
"True, but they don't know me."
Indigo sighed and then said, "This guy is my brother, by now he should be 19 years old. He's a prodigy, he finished school at an early age and he can lie with a straight face as you just saw now with the whole FBI thing."
"But the local police really were the local police, and Mr. balahub and Ms. Valasima really were being investigated by the FBI, I just sped up the process." Indigo's brother added.
"Yeah, most likely the illegal way." Indigo said under her breath.
"Illegal is always faster." Indigo's brother said cheerfully. Indigo shot a dark look at him.
Margo and Klaus looked at each other. What was going on?
Chapter .14
Phineus Hazardous
Phineus Hazardous
At Indigo's brothers house, Callum, Indigo, Klaus, and Margo talked to Callum for ages. They explained to Callum everything that had happened in the past four months. Callum took this all in with interest.
"So do you know what they do to the orphans up in Tranaad?" Klaus asked Callum. Callum took a sip of hot tea.
"The worst things you think of," Callum said. The orphans leaned in closer. "First they abuse them and make them do manual labor. After a few weeks of working, I heard the do this operation to them."
"What kind of operations?" Margo asked. Callum shook his head.
"You guys are all too young," Callum said. Margo jumped out of her seat.
Klaus disagreed "We've been through a lot, and we can take on almost anything now. I don't think what you're about to say can harm us in anyways. "
"You guys are right," Callum nodded, and with that, he began. "Octavious Hazardous IV was a wickedly smart student. He graduated college by the age of nineteen. ("Like you!" Margo pointed out.) In his twenties he met a very beautiful young lady, her name was Rose. Octavious and Rose soon planned on starting a family together, but Rose was unable to carry a baby of her own. So they ended up (he paused) adopting a child. The young couple raised the child until the boy turned thirteen. I don't know why, but the boy ended up killing Rose, and ran away. Octavious suspected that Phineus Hazardous never really loved Octavious or Rose... because he was adopted."
"Aha! So that’s why Octave hates orphans!" Klaus jumped out of his seat. His stomach grumbled all of the sudden.
Callum nodded. “You kids better eat some food. It must have been hours since you last ate. Let me prepare you some food.”
The orphans agreed and he went into the fake Montgomery’s kitchen to prepare the food.
Chapter .15
The Dream
The Dream
Margo thought long and hard that night. She couldn't help but think about Phineus. Where was he now? And she thought about Octave, and how wicked he was. But she felt like she finally understood Octave. He was once a normal person (although a super genius) with feelings. He had a wife, who she bet was beautiful, and a son. She felt bad for Octave, but at the same time hated him for not understanding that not all orphans where like Phineus. But it was too late now, he was dead.
Margo then began to wonder about the Secret Society. She wanted to know more. She remembered that Callum had still not told them about what operations the TSS do on the orphans. Finally, Margo was able to fall asleep, only to find out that she was going to have an interesting dream.
Octavious walked over to a small table outside of a local coffee shop, wearing a scarf, sunglasses, hat and a trench coat. At the table sat a plump guy dressed in the same way.
"What do you have for me?" Debob's voice muffled.
"A brilliant plan, that'll make you king," Octavious said. Debob laughed.
"I already am the leader of communist Russia," he said.
"King of the world," Octave said. Debob stopped laughing and immediately leaned in.
"Remember the last letter I sent you?" Octave whispered. Debob nodded. "Screw it. I say we don't just go for the orphans money, I say we go for their brain power."
Debob looked confused.
"Children have the fastest developing brains," Octave said. "That’s something I learned when I was only five. And I did some research when I was eleven, when I came across this book (Octave held up a giant book.)"
Debob gasped.
"Book of the Unknown! There's only two copies in the whole world!"
"Yes. I found it in my great grandfathers cabinet. Now I read through it I figured, out children’s brain hold many powers, that could be put to good use, and will make you fortunes."
"Good!" Debob clapped. "But why are we using just orphans!? If this brain power is as powerful as you say it is we won't need their fortunes. I say we just use regular children."
Octavious grabbed Debob by the collar. Octavious's nose pressed against Debob's.
"Listen here," Octavious hissed. "Last week my adopted son killed my dear wife, Rose! You know why!? (Octave jerked Debob's collar.) Because he was once a good for nothing orphan! What a mistake it was to adopt him! ARGHHH!"
Octave let go of Debob and jumped out of his seat, causing it to fly across the sidewalk. People began to stare.
"We raised Phineus! I treated him like my own! AND THIS IS WHAT I GET!? HUH!? A STAB IN THE BACK!! LITERALLY!!!!"
Octavious fell to his knees and covered his face with his bony hands.
"He never loved us! Because he was a good for nothing orphan!!" Octave looked up from his palms. He had a mad look in his eyes. "He took my beloved Rose from me! HE TOOK HER!"
Octave stood up again and walked over to Debob trembling with anger.
"I won't stop until I'm even with Phineus," Octave snarled. "I'll make sure every orphan is wiped off the face of this planet. Especially, Phineus."
Margo woke up. It was morning. he bright sunshine flooded Margo's bedroom.
Margo sprung out of her bed and raced down the hallway and into Callum's kitchen.
"Callum!" she spotted him sitting at the kitchen table with a newspaper in his hand and a plate of half finished pancakes in front of him. Margo raced over to seat next to her and snatched the newspaper from his hands.
"Callum! Callum!" Margo jumped up in down in her seat. "I think I know what Debob is up to! Well, part of what he's doing. We just need to get a hold of the Book of the Unknown!"
"Wah?" Callum asked with a look of surprise as a piece of pancake fell from his mouth.
Indigo slid into the seat across from Margo.
"You had another dream didn’t you?" she asked. Margo nodded.
"Oh! Please do explain!" Klaus said he flipped another pancake. Margo explained to them everything. She told them about the 'brain powers' and Octave's mad behavior at the coffee shop, and the Book of the Unknown.
"You'll never find it!" Callum shook his head as Margo asked him about the book again. "There are only two copies in the world!"
“You know about the book?”Margo, Indigo, and Klaus exchanged glances.
"We need that book," Klaus whined.
"But it's nearly impossible,” Callum said not answering their previous question.
Chapter .16
Disappearing
Disappearing
Vikki had already spent four weeks in Tranaad. She had made many good friends there. She gets along well with the girls in her room. And at lunchtime she gets to interact with other kids, and even boys! Vikki had never really got along with boys, besides Klaus. But she had come to fancy them at Tranaad. But when it wasn't lunchtime or downtime, it was pure misery. Hard labor.
Everyday the guards would take Vikki's floor to a gigantic garden, that was in a large dome. They'd just drop us off there and say "Work!" Some days Vikki would plant flowers, water plants, pick cotten, cut the thorns off of roses, other days she'd rake. Seems pretty easy? Not at all. They did this from 6am-12pm. Then lunch would come. And from 2pm to 10pm she'd work some more.
Also during her time at Tranaad, she had noticed the disappearance of kids on her floor. Every day at lunch a sweet looking lady dressed in all white would come into the lunchroom and call a name. The person who had that name would follow the lady outside of the lunchroom and you'll never see that kid again. But today at lunch was the strangest. Today, the Sweet Lady called two names!
Vikki giggled with a group of kids that she'd been hanging out with the past few days, Benny (a kid from India), Greta (from the U.S.), Gary(a kid from Ireland), Mermaid (a girl from South Africa) and Bex (from England.) We were laughing at Vern, and his weird ways as Gary walked around the lunchroom pretending to be him. Vikki laughed even harder.
Then, the lunchroom door opens. All the orphans jump in their seats and go silent. It's the Sweet Lady. Vikki gulps and crossed her fingers.
Come on, God, please! Please not me or Gary! Vikki desperately thought.
"Benny Reddy and Persephone Svetlan!"
Some orphans whispered.
The've never taken in more than one orphan before! Vikki panicked. She looked up at her dear friend as Benny got up from the table. The look on Benny's face was grave. As made his way of to the Sweet Lady he didn't look at any of the orphans, he just looked straight ahead.
"Bye!" Vikki whispered. She then silently prayed for him.
Half of the kids say that the disappearing kids are just sent back to the orphanage were they came from, the other says that they just kill them off. Vikki didn't know which story to believe, but she hoped that is was the brighter looking one.
Vikki couldn't sleep that night, she couldn't let go of the fact that the Sweet Lady took in two kids! TWO kids!!!
Chapter .17
the Boy Who Caused It All
the Boy Who Caused It All
Winnie woke that night. She decided that it was best to snoop around tonight to plan her escape and also find Vikki. But tonight snooping was interesting. She came across a hidden library where she met this one boy. He had red hair that went a bit passed his shoulders and deep blue eyes.
"What's your name?" Winnie asked.
"Phineus," he said.
"And where am I?' she questioned. She held her candle lit up to see that she in a library the size of a football field.
"In my father’s library," he said. "He built this right after this castle was built, which right before he died."
"I'm terribly sorry about your father," Winnie then silently prayed for him.
"No it's okay," Phineus shrugged. "He, Octave a.k.a. my foster Dad, was a mad man anyways."
Winnie quickly took the prayer back.
"Octave!?"she spat. "Foster!? Octave had an adopted son! Then why is he so focused on killing orphans!?"
Phineus told her more about Phineus's mother. He told Winnie that his mother accidently drowned in the pond outside of their house when Octave was at work and when Octave came home he thought that Phineus had pushed her in.
"So Octavius threatened to kill, so I had to run away. I was on my own for months. Soon I decided to travel North, but only to figure out that Octavius had been building forts and castles all over Europe and the Arctic Circle. Eventually I ended up getting caught by the TSS guards and I was dragged here to Tranaad were I met Debob. When I saw me he told that I better be luckily that my father died yesterday or else Octavius would skin me alive. After that Debob threw me in my dad’s library, and I been here since."
"How did you survive in here!?" Winnie gasped.
"Rats," Phineus said as if it were simple. Winnie cringed at the thought. Then Winnie kept on asking her more about Octavus’s and Debob's plan. Phineus, without any hesitation, he told her about the plan and brain powers.
"The Book of the Unknown tells you everything about brain powers," Phineus said. "Care to take a look?"
"I thought you said there were only to copies in the world!?" Winnie gasped.
"Well, my dad had one of the only copies," Phineus explained. "and after he died the book moved here, to this library."
Chapter .19
The Book of the Unknown
The Book of the Unknown
Winnie trembled as her hand grazed the cover of large book. Winnie flipped through the pages until she found the page that was labeled Children: Golden Waves.
Children have the fastest developing brains. This quick development is cause by Golden Waves (sometimes referred to as "brain powers"). They are by far the most powerful forces in the world. I, Octavious Hazardous, was the first one to discover this.
When I was in my thirties I was still a learning scientist. I had a son, William, who I was always doing test on. One day I did I few MRAs on his brain. Many, many MRAs. When the MRAs were developed I couldn't believe my eyes, I discovered electric waves that were moving about his brain. When I looked at the MRAs I discovered that the electric waves were coming from somewhere but his brain. I took a full body MRA of William. I then realized that the waves where traveling from inside his heart up to his brain! So I did more MRAs on other children. They all had the same thing my son did, electric waves!
I went to many other scientists and doctors and shared my discoveries with them. They all gasped as they saw the extraordinary MRAs. None of them have seen anything like it before. So the other scientists took my discoveries, my son, and a few other children to a lab. First they did tests on my son.
They gave William sleeping medicine. We opened up the back of his head until his brain was visible. We all gasped when we saw it. Bright blue, electric waves, traveling about the surface and insides of his brain. One of the doctors attempted to touch it. But when the waves made contact with his skin, the doctor was sent flying across the room. These weren't electric waves, they were something else.
When we patched back up William's head we went back home. Where I did more research. After months and years of looking at children’s brains and searching for answers, I finally caught on. Children have the fastest developing brains. What caused the quick development was the electric waves. Without them, children wouldn't be able to learn, grow, or even go through puberty. As I kept on studying I realized that the waves started to go away after age sixteen, and by twenty, they're gone.
But I still needed more answers! I remembered when Dave, the scientist that dared touch the waves. Why did he fly across the room? I discovered that these waves are mighty powerful, and when put to good use can be even more powerful!
I rushed to the lab and gathered the other scientists. I decided that if I took the waves out of the child, maybe I can use it for something. The doctors and I gave a girl, Symphony, sleeping medicine and opened up the back of her head until the waves were visible. With golden tongs (I learned that the waves are attracted to gold, that is why I call the waves Golden Waves) I clamped onto the waves. And to my amazement the waves coiled around the tongs like a magnet. The doctors and I watched as I sucked the waves out of the child. I then put the waves in a golden jar and they moved about.
Later that night I got a phone call from the lab. It was Henry, one of the doctors.
"Octavious! Come to the lab! Quickly!"
That night at the lab I'll never forget. There sat Symphony in a corner of an empty room. Her eyes were wide and her mouth hung open. She was completely lifeless. The doctors told me that she still had a heart beat and that she was still completely healthy. They didn't know what was wrong with her. I tried talking to Symphony, she just stared. She was completely unresponsive. Then it hit me. The waves, the MRAs. I remember that the wave came from inside the heart. I took her soul!
Years passed on, and I never dared looked at another brain on talked about Golden Waves again. I was fifty, when another extraordinary thing happened to me. One night I woke up to the a sound of vibrations. I walked down stairs to see that the golden jar that held Symphony's bright blue waves was rattling about the room. I thought it was Symphony's soul coming back for revenge! The golden jar exploded and bright blue light flashed. I shielded my eyes from the brightness. The room started to feel like it was spinning. I held onto the nearby stair railing for support. For what seemed like hours the room kept on spinning. When the spinning stopped I looked up from my hands. I almost fainted.
I was looking into a portal of a different world! Who knew these waves were so powerful. And that’s why I started to call the Golden Wave's "brain powers".
Winnie stared suspiciously at Phineus. It didn’t at all make sense.
